A small studio designing one-of-one hand-tufted rugs in New Zealand wool, commissioned, never mass-produced. Conceived for collectors, architects, and patient interiors.
Start a Custom RugWe believe a rug is the slowest object in a room. It should outlive trends, hold the weight of a family, and be made by the same pair of hands from first sketch to final knot.
One Studio
Every piece tufted in our Aba workshop, by same set of hands.
One Edition
Numbered. Never reproduced. Never mass-printed.
One Lifetime
Built for thirty years of bare feet and afternoon light.
Five deliberate stages. Six to ten weeks. One artisan from beginning to end.
We co-author the brief palette, scale, references, and the final cartoon you sign off on.
A bespoke wooden frame is built and primary cotton backing is hand-stretched in-studio.
New Zealand wool is guided through the backing tuft by tuft typically 60–120 hours per piece.
The pile is sheared, carved for depth, latex-sealed and finished with a soft cotton backing.
Photographed, rolled in archival paper, and delivered anywhere in Nigeria or shipped worldwide.

Long-staple, low-VM, naturally lanolin-rich. Resilient under decades of foot traffic, soft enough to sit on the floor with a book.
A tight-weave 12oz cotton substrate, sourced from a family mill in Kano. The frame that holds every tuft in place for the next thirty years.

"The piece arrived three weeks ago and clients keep asking where it's from. The weight, the carving, nothing on the market compares."
Adaeze Okeke

"I've sourced rugs from Morocco and India for fifteen years. Tuft & Thread is the first studio in West Africa I trust with a hero piece."
Marcus Lin

"Quiet, considered, and built to last a generation. The collaboration felt like working with a sculptor, not a vendor."
